There was a leak by WABetaInfo on Twitter about the new Biometric lock system coming to Android version of the Whatsapp. This feature is been implemented in the original Whatsapp but it is in beta phase.
The fingerprint lock can be enabled by going into Whatsapp Settings > Account > Privacy > Fingerprint lock.
If you are a beta tester of the Whatsapp application then you can directly go to settings to enable the lock. If you are not a beta tester then follow the steps below:
- Go here and download the latest version of Whatsapp from here or download directly from here.
- Install the apk.
- Open Whatsapp then goto Whatsapp Settings > Account > Privacy > Fingerprint lock.
- Authenticate your fingerprint and you are good to go.
When the Fingerprint option enabled users can see three options for the automatic lock to choose from – immediately, after 1 minute, and after 30 minutes.
Choosing the immediately option will require users to fingerprint authentication every time they close and open the app.
There is also an option for hiding the message preview in the Notifications.
