After applying the IUP policy Jio starting to charge 6 paise /per minute from customers to call the numbers on different operators.
What is IUC?
Interconnect Usage Charge or IUC is a cost paid by one mobile telecom operator to another when its customers make outgoing mobile calls to the other operator’s customers. These calls between two different networks are known as mobile off-net calls. IUC charges are fixed by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and are currently at 6 paise/minute.
IUC charges will be brought down to ZERO from 1 January 2020 according to the date given by TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India). In three years Jio paid IUC from its resources to other telecom operators like Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, etc. Jio has paid nearly Rs.13,500 crore as NET IUC charges to the other operators.
When TRAI will officially start ZERO IUC charge policy from that day users of Jio can again avail the benefits of Free calls to any other operator numbers and present the date is 1 January 2020. But calls from Jio to Jio, incoming calls, and Jio to Landline is free of cost.

“Customers will get free talk time of 30 minutes the first time they recharge their phones. This one-time offer will be available for the first seven days from the date the plan was announced,” said a person aware of the development. “This is a handholding exercise to help a smooth transition for subscribers.”
